(MOODY AL USA)
If you have been following my blogs lately, you are well aware of my concern for our great Republic, America. Our great tried and true slogan, 'The land of the free and home of the brave' seems to be in a heap of trouble, progressively speaking. My concern is for America’s Judeo-Christian roots, together with her patriotic history.
I only wish, by some mercifully divine compassionate revelation, I could personally lend a hand in giving a solution to fixing America’s problems, but I can’t. All I can do is what I feel is right, according to the dictates of our almighty Creator, God, within His holy Scriptures.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:1-2)
Have you read your newspaper, tuned in the television news, listened to talk radio, surfed the internet, talked to your next-door neighbor, or even listened in the modern church service lately? Where then is America headed?
Christianity and Patriotism seems to be out to lunch, considering today’s progressive cultural diet. I prayerfully hope no one gets choked on such a fat-loaded propaganda meal. Thus, I have written this much-needed blog respecting today’s socialistic culture.
I distinctively and characteristically entitle the blog “Why Worry, America?” You see, if our living Creator, God, can laugh at today’s mindset, why can’t we? Amen!
Psalm 2:1-5 "Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the ruler's band together against the LORD and against His anointed, saying, "Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles." The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the LORD scoffs at them. He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath, saying, "But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.”
Now, as for me personally, regardless of today’s out-of-control culture, I still believe the American motto “In God We Trust.” I am living in a very exciting world full of Godly expectations.
I still enjoy the freedom to be able to turn off the fake national television news, which I’ve done. The talking heads have nothing to say that I will benefit from hearing or believe. I still have the choice of standing for my patriotic freedoms, which I do. I have the freedom to read God’s holy Word daily in my devotions and follow it up with prayer, which I do.
Has today’s party-politics driven you up the proverbial wall? Is it all about political beliefs or attitudes? Good against evil? Is it Christian beliefs as opposed to atheistic un-beliefs? Common sense synonyms as opposed to irrational nonsensical antonyms?
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalm 73:26)
Why then, should I be worried? Why should I be overcome with anxiety? Why should I doubt our Creator’s living Word, the Bible? Why, why, why, I could go on and on.
In his 1981 inaugural address, President Ronald Reagan, my favorite, addressed America as follows, “No arsenal or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today’s world do not have. It is a weapon that we as Americans do have. Let that be understood by those who practice terrorism and prey upon their neighbors.”
So, I feel that our living Creator, God, does have a plan for America, even though America is not mentioned by name in the Scriptures. In the rotunda of the Capitol building hangs a great painting entitled “The Landing of Columbus,” depicting that great explorer's arrival on America’s shore.
Obviously and clearly visible, we see America’s heritage of freedom being challenged on many of today’s cultural and societal fronts. Freedom doesn’t come from a world of secular dogma, but only from the dictates of our loving and loyal heavenly Father, through the promises within America’s founding documents along with the holy Scriptures. (Isaiah 41:10)
I do believe that our living Creator, God, was, is and will always be in control, and in command of America. (Psalm 33:12) The Scripture is very adamant that our God chooses both good and evil leaders, to affect His just and divine will upon the people. In respect to His Word, we should no longer rely on the dictates of humanly generated philosophy.
“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him.”(Daniel 2:20-22)
