John 1:1-14
John 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
1. To Preach Truth
John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
READ Matt. 23 - the woes Jesus preached to the religious crowd - the Pharisees who were self-righteous. We need this type of preaching of the truth today.
2. To Be Worshipped
Hebrews 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. Matthew 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
3. To Be Put to Death
Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
4. To Save Sinners
John 3:16-17 – that the world through him might be saved
I Tim. 1:15 – to save sinners (Matt. 1:21) Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
5. To Be an Example to Us.
John 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
6. To Give Us Life
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.
