" Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” (Genesis 11:4)
America is months away from the 2020 presidential election. Yet America's political atmosphere appears to be completely disarranged, ideologically speaking. The old guard seems to be overtaken by a few with the socialist collective persuasion.
Furthermore, this pretentious viewpoint is being spread like wildfire throughout America's airwaves by the mainstream news media.
Is God, in His infinite wisdom, using this growing perplexity to turn our country's ever-growing ungodly evil into good? If this be the case, I can't help but wander back eons of time to the infamous Tower of Babel.
According to Bible history, God used the building of this tower to confuse its builders language, thus forcing the separation of those builders. (Genesis 11:1-9) The following excerpt is taken from biblestudytools.com titled "The Tower of Babel-Bible History,"
"The descendants of Noah were living in the area of Mesopotamia in Babylon. They settled in a land named Shinar. The population was growing and they all spoke one language. The people decided to build a tall, proud symbol of how great they had made their nation. The Babylonians wanted a tower that would "reach to the heavens" so that they could be like God and that they would not need Him. They began to construct a great ziggurat.
God did not like the pride and arrogance in the hearts of the people. God caused the people to suddenly speak different languages so they could not communicate and work together to build the tower. This caused the people to scatter across the land. The tower was named The Tower of Babel because the word Babel means confusion. This story is a powerful reminder of how important it is to obey God's Word and not to think that we can build a successful but godless life on our own! "
Now, let us fast-forward back to the Twenty-first Century. Does this historic Biblical episode not parallel today's American politics? I rest my case. However, let's move on to a solution to this, America's ongoing progressive predicament.
This city of Babel's tower was built in order to prevent people from scattering through the earth (Genesis 11:4) which was in direct defiance of God's command to spread through the earth and multiply. (Genesis 9:1)
So, does America's progressive political opinion of an isolation and eradication of America's freedoms parallel Babel? These are the very freedoms our country's founding fathers constitutionally installed by providence care, and our forefathers fought and died to preserve. I trust not.
According to Larry P. Arnn, President of Hillsdale College, " The framers of the American Constitution combinded the best political ideas of the past with innovations in what The Federalist called an improved science of politics: federalism, seperation of powers, and checks and balances. Doing so, they created a form of government which had, in the words of James Madison, " no model on the face of the earth. "
Because men are not angels, government is necessary. Because no man stands to another as God to Man, or as man to beast, government must be based on consent. The moral foundation of the Constitution is in the Declaration of Independence and its principle of equal rights. Under the Constitution, government was to be limited to protecting those rights.
In recent decades, the way our government operates has departed from the Constitution. It has become less limited, and our liberties less secure. "
And the Apostle Paul, speaking on behalf of God's Holy Spirit, echoed these remarks in (Romans 13:1-7).
Thus, if any ungodly influences, regardless of political beliefs, principles, opinions or views, go against the principles of God, those influences are a direct violation of the principles of the gospel. We Christians should not shrink from making our voices known.
How may we do this? First and foremost, through dedicated prayer for all those who are in authority, not just one particular political affiliation, but all our designated political leaders.
Enjoying the relaxing Praise and Worship atmosphere of a structured church worship service is definitely food for the soul. However, we must follow the example of the early church, by making the Gospel known within our community. Please read (Acts 2:41-47).
We should seek the truth and make political assessments based on Biblical principles, and vote accordingly with intelligence. We may also choose to write to newspapers, lobby for our cause, and even join a political party. We should be cautious, however, not to idealize any particular party. When is the last time you attended your city council meeting?
I realize, for whatever reason, a portion of America's populace seems to have become rather skeptical with politics as usual. We must also realize that the state has certain obligations and so do we. We should never forget to uphold our obligations in total Christian compassion. So, how may we do this? By going back to the Bible, as our guide, of course. Our game plan is laid out in (II Timothy 3:16).
Now, are you ready to do your part in overcoming this muddled disarrangement of our political system, in an effort to avert total political chaos? If so, let's go to God's Word for some parting instructions.
In (II Chronicles 7:14) we are given a Divine plan of action, along with a promise of reward. If we, God's people, will only humble ourselves, pray and seek God's face, He has promised to heal our land. You see, it's all up to us; His people and not the ungodly. So, let us go to work, to do our part in reinstalling the proper divinely-inspired order to America's politics. Amen!

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. ( Amendment I, The Constitution of the United States of America)
Now, do you remember, America? Let us never forget "God Bless America", the Land of the free and the home of the brave. Amen!
