Do you remember that "old time religion"? I sure do. I remember the song leader (known now as the worship minister) would always pick the best song, for the testimony time. The leader would then pause between the song verses, as the testimonies would commence. And yes, sometimes as the spirit would lead, we would never get past the first verse of the song.
What happened to that "old time religion" spirit, in our churches? Are we too politically correct now? Do we leave God's Holy Spirit at the front church house door? Whatever the "cause", if we don't yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit, then we may not like the final "effect" . May God be with us.
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you" (John 14:16-18)
The Sunday Testimony
Many praises that were begotten, Long since have been forgotten
The Sunday Testimony
As the Spirit would moved to explain, The old time religion to acclaim
The Sunday Testimony
How the Amen's would shout and roll, one by one to give condole
The Sunday Testimony
God's saving power would declare, As the Holy experiences did share
The Sunday Testimony
If only in time once more to go back, That old time religion again to attract
