Where Do You Stand?
There are a number of "buzz words" floating around in the Christian vernacular. One, which is not mentioned as much as some of the others, is the word "Trinity". What is meant by the word "trinity" The term: "Tri" meaning three, and "Unity" meaning one, Tri+Unity = Trinity. Thus a trinity, is a trio of three, be it our Holy Trinity or the future unholy trinity.
And in the Christian circles, this doctrine simply means God is one being made of three distinct persons who exist in co-eternal communion as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Obviously, as follows of the gospel, the Holy Trinity is well known and accepted. God the Father is fully and completely God. God the Son (Jesus) is fully, completely God. And God the Holy Spirit is fully, completely God. Yet there is only one God.
In our world, with our limited human experience, it's tough to understand this Trinity. However, from the beginning of time, in studying the holy scripture (2 Timothy 3:16), we see God's Holy Trinity given in the plural pronouns of "us" and "our". (Genesis 1:26).
There is much more factual proofs in scripture, supporting the Holy Trinity. Here' is just a few of the scriptures. (Deut 6:4) (Isaiah 45:5) (1 Cor 8:4) (Matthew 3:16) (Matthew 28:19) (John 10:30) (John 14:9) (Deut. 6:4).
You see, our God knows that we cannot see Him in a physical way (John 20:26-29), so He uses parts of Himself to reveal His will for our lives. God revealed Himself, in the person of Jesus (who was truly properly man and truly and properly God), in a way that we could realize. We could understand that He physically suffered, died, and was resurrected (1 Cor 15:1-4), to redeem mankind (Genesis 3:15) of the inbred sin, first occurring in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-7). The Holy Spirit is designed to draw us to God, to comfort us and speak to us through our conscience (John 14:216).
Just think of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as the three pieces of God's personality. Thus, our God is balanced out to us in a way we can appreciate. 1) The all-seeing Father, 2) the teacher Jesus, and 3) the guiding Holy Spirit.
Conversely, the unholy trinity is yet to come. In the future, just after the rapture, Satan will mimic God, or God's work. This approach started, in the Garden of Eden, when Satan so craftily persuaded our first parents to commit the first sin (Genesis 3:1-7). And this unholy practice of Satan, continued throughout the ages, including his failed attempt to make Jesus sin. (Matthew 4:1-11)
This unholy trinity, is described rather vividly in the 12th and 13th chapters of Revelation. And while the Holy Trinity is characterized by infinite righteousness, the unholy trinity is just the opposite.
This unholy trinity consist of Satan, the antichrist and the false prophet. In the tribulation period, that commences after the rapture of the saints. Satan himself will designate certain duties to these unholy characters. This unholy trinity will persecute believers and deceive many others, resulting in their eternal death. But God’s kingdom will prevail (Daniel 7:21-22).
The 12th chapter of Revelation gives many important facts about Satan. Satan and one-third of the angels were cast out of heaven during a rebellion before the world began (Revelation 12:4). However, Satan and his demons, will eventually be excluded from heaven forever (Revelation 12:7-9).
The second member of the unholy trinity is the Beast or Antichrist described in 13th chapter of revelation and the seventh chapter of Daniel. The world will be totally enthralled by the Antichrist, and will worship Satan and the Antichrist himself (Revelation 13:4-5). The Antichrist becomes emboldened. Dispensing with all pretenses of being a peaceful ruler, he openly blasphemes God, breaks his peace treaty with the Jews, attacks believers and the Jews, and desecrates the rebuilt Jewish temple, setting himself up as the one to be worshipped. (Revelation 13:4-7) (Matthew 24:15)
The third person of the unholy trinity is the False Prophet, as described in (Revelation 13:11-18). He will be a world apostate religious leader. He will presents himself as a meek, mild and benevolent person, persuasively and deceptively turning mankind away from God and promote the worship of the Antichrist and Satan (Revelation 13:11-12).
It is this false prophet who compels each person to receive a permanent mark tattoo, or brand, just as slaves did in John’s day, (mark 666) to show total devotion to the Antichrist and renunciation of God. Only those who receive the mark will be permitted to engage in commerce. However, acceptance of the mark will mean eternal punishment (Revelation 14:10).
Yes, in the last days, Satan will form a sham trinity. He will play God, the Antichrist will play the Son, and the False Prophet will take on the role of the Holy Spirit, by glorifying the Antichrist and Satan.
What happens to the Holy Trinity, during the tribulation, when the unholy trinity is at work (2 Thess 2:1-12). God will be, of course, as He is always everywhere. The son, Jesus, will be with the saints in the air (1 Thess 4:13-18). And the Holy Spirit will have been removed, at the time of the rapture. (2 Thess 2:7). The Holy Spirit, however, will still convict people of sin (Revelation 7:9,14).
What about you, my friend? Where do you stand with the "Holy Trinity", the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name'. (John 1:12).
