I will be with you always.
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you ".(Isaiah 43:2)
Start by singing the hymn "Send The Fire"
I'm sure most of you will recall the age old true story of the three Hebrew Children who were cast into the fiery furnace, for failure to obey the Kings ruling. The book of Daniel gives the full account, in chapter 3. Please read this passage, at your leisure.
I--THE DEMONISTRATION OF FAITH (Daniel 3:16-18)
How was their faith demonstrated?
Did they give a good testimony?
If so, how?
(Ask for congregation response)
Here, we find that their minds were already made up as their faith was strong. Yes, no doubt about this decision. A point to ponder. What would have happened to their testimony if they had not been in agreement or if they had put up a struggle?
II--DEFENDING THE FAITH (Daniel 3:16-18)
When should we defend your faith?
How may we defend your faith in the work place ?
As Christian, should we always be ready to give our testimony?
Are there times when we should not give our testimony?
(Ask for congregation response)
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear" (I Peter 3:15)
We should always yield to the Holy Spirit's leading, when sharing the gospel with others. If we do this, we can never go wrong. Remember, we are the only Bible some people read.
III--THE KINGS AMAZEMENT (Daniel3:24-25)
How was God's power demonstrated?
Did the King believe?
(Ask for congregation response)
Here, we see the power of the living God. Not only were the children walking freely up and down, in the midst of the fire, but they had company. A fourth person, whom I feel was Jesus, the Son of God.
IV--WHAT PARELLELS MAY WE DRAW FORM THIS OLD TRUE STORY.
Can you give some life experiences?
Does it pay to obey God?
If so, in what way?
(Ask for congregation response)
As Christians, we are made in the image of God and sin cannot bind us.
"For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace" (Romans 6:14)
As Christians, Satan's' fires cannot touch us.
"In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one" (Ephesians 6:16)
V--RECEIVING THE REWARD (Daniels 29:30)
Can you give examples of rewards given the saints of old?
Have you had any rewards, for your faithful service?
(Ask congregation to respond)
Throughout God's word we see , time and again, the saints of old being promoted for faithful service.
VI--WHAT ARE YOUR SPITUAL FIRES?
(Ask congregation to respond)
VII--HOW DO YOU GIVE THEM OVER TO GOD?
(Ask congregation to respond)
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers shall not overflow you, when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, neither shall the flame be kindled upon you.(Isaiah 43:2)"
Sing the chorus to "Send The Fire" again as an invitation chorus.
