If anyone has ever done any flower arranging, you know the most important element is not really the flowers themselves. It is not the vase or container, as pretty as it may be.
To make an arrangement look great and to emphasize the beauty of the blooms, you need a block of Styrofoam. This piece is hidden beneath the foliage and not observed by the beholder, yet performs a necessary function. Without it the flower and fern stems would not stay in the position the arranger desires to bring out the fullest effect. The purpose of the foam is to help bring attention to the flowers.
We need to be like the Styrofoam. Serving the Lord without necessarily being seen by those whose eyes are fixed on Jesus because of what we do.
