While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight; while little children go hungry, as they do now, I'll fight; while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight; while there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I'll fight - I'll fight to the very end!(General William Booth, Founder of the Salvation Army)
"Promoted To Glory" is the ultimate distinction given to a Salvation Army comrade, upon being called home by their Heaven Father to receive their final heavenly reward.
"His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master"(Matthew 25:23).
Promoted to Glory
Was the old soldiers reward, His battle ribbons eternally restored
Promoted to Glory
A uniform so proudly to wear, For a witness many did share
Promoted to Glory
Upon the uniform shinning so bright, the collar "S"s Salvations light
Promoted to Glory
Marching to the old drum beat, taking the Gospel to the street
Promoted to Glory
Waving the old flag red yellow and blue, the old spirit to renew
Promoted to Glory
The message proclaimed to all, who will turn from evils sinful fall
Promoted to Glory
From the retirement ranks, old soldier, now to heavens angel flanks
Promoted to Glory
