2nd. Timothy 2:15
I heard him on the radio
He testified with zeal
It seemed his intent was good
To many listeners, he did appeal
The Bible has hundreds of promises
He said, 'he claimed them all'
That appeared a noble thing to do
But could this be reason for appall
First of all, I direct you to
II Timothy, two, fifteen
"Rightly divide", is a key phrase here
As the true picture, we seek to glean
Many diverse promises were made
Long before the Savior came
Condemming a vast array of deeds
The law imposed, guilt and shame
In no way do I indicate
That God's standard is any less
But when at Calvary, the Savior died
Here, all sin was addressed
Many "rituals",of those former days
Were nailed to Calvary's cross
Grace did what the law could not
"Works" of the flesh, I count but loss
Principle has never changed
But procedures have, - it's true
Dispensations through the ages
Have given us a different view
Promises by God's only Son
I gladly claim and cling to them
They deserve utmost esteem
I know of no - - greater gem
