I took a trip to the mall the other day
To see what all the others would say
And as I listened much to my surprise
What they said surely opened my eyes
A child playing alone with a new found toy
Running around the room shouting joy
A Mom and her love deep in thought
No words but an expression was sought
Two old service vets just biding for time
And together they may have had a dime
A young lady giving store samples away
Her sales pitch was all she could say
Two soon to be adults very heavy in talk
They could really talk but not walk the walk
Then came a beggar with clothing to match
For a penny here and there just to snatch
A nice young lady came by carrying a sign
Moto's of which she failed to be so kind
Two young ones talked of the welfare line
Hoping to freely make back there on time
The shocker was the surprise of the mall
An elderly man started praying for us all
Everyone stopped to hear his speech
For to the heavens he did actually reach
What an experience it was there for me
I'm just proud for our freedom and liberty
"Heed instruction and be wise, And do not neglect it. "Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at my doorposts." (Proverbs 8:33-34)
Are you older enough to remember that old famous TV show "People are funny"? People Are Funny was an American radio and television game show, created by John Guedel that ran from 1942 to 1960 in which contestants were asked to carry out stunts in order to prove that "People Are Funny." Wikipedia
So are you a people watcher? I must admit, I've been there and done that. For people are the most interesting humans in the world. Often times I would sit in the mall, while the wife and daughter would shop, just to observe people. I like to play certain people games. What are their professions? What is their social status? How did the vote and who did they vote for in the last election, etc. And most importantly, do they attend church?
What I really like is to strike up a conversation with a total stranger. You can learn a great deal, just by listening. What an opportunity to witness for the gospel.
Yes, a proven fact. People are funny.
