Learn it, Live it, Love it

I. Learn It.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children

• We see the principle that God’s people are ruined by not knowing the Word of God.

• We are Commanded to always be ready to give an answer
II Timothy 2:15 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

It is a must we as Christians know Gods Word if we are going to have victory over sin.
David stated in Psalms 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

Great men of God give testimony of stating scripture thru trying and tempting times.
We see Christ as our example fighting the Devil off by knowing the Scripture
Matthew 4: 1-11

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil
And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Why must we learn the Word of God? So we know what it says so we can,

II. Live It.

Psalms 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
We see the Learning and we see the result of applying it.

The worse harm the can be done to the name of our Lord is Christians proclaiming to be one of his children and turning around living like the Devil. How important the Testimony of a Christian. Is the Word made flesh in your life? Is it evident by the way you live you’re a Christian?

There are consequences for Christians not living for the Lord: Ananias and Sapphira
More then likely won be that severe but you never know.

Don’t be describe as one of the Christians describe in Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me
Why live it? Cause we aren’t promised the chance to do it tomorrow.

We read were Paul said life is a race. Why de we play the game? We play to win. Lets not give up or not give it our all on our most important race.

III. Love It

This is probably the most important of the Three. If you don’t Love It, it will be hard for you to Learn it. If you don’t Learn It, it will be hard for you to Live It.
It’s hard to really get into something you don’t love. Try buying a new car that you think is ugly and hate to drive.

Try dating someone you just think is ugly or someone you don’t think you could ever love.
Fall in love with Gods Word. Get into Gods Word and you might just realize how much you enjoy it. David makes the statement in Psalms 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Love Gods Word it will guide and direct you thru life Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Loving the world and the things in it will keep you from loving the Word of God. You can’t serve both at the same time. If you love the world how will you be able to separate from it?

Illustrate:
Love Gods Word and chase after it (people died so we can have this book). And enjoy the blessings of God.

Lost person why should you accept God and His Word.

Well he would accept you. He loved you enough to die for you:

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
