I Thank You, O God ! (Psalm 75:1)
PLEASE READ (Psalm 136 ) IN PREPARATION FOR THIS POEM
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
For hearing my sinful plea
As I kneel on bended knee
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
For saving me from my sin
For making me pure within
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
For saving my sinful soul
For making my spirit whole
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
For giving me Your free grace
On the cross You took my place
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
I now trust in Your loving care
Your love I will always share
I Come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
To my heart joy freely flowed
As life's blessings were bestowed
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
I'm living in Your gentle care
Your gospel I now will share
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
Nothing short of a life well done
Nothing short of a victory won
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
For always being the same
I now praise Your holy name
I come to thank You Lord
Just to thank You
When the Pilgrims celebrated their first Thanksgiving in 1621, half their original group had died. How did they survive, under such circumstances? Simply put, they were able to focus on God's goodness and mercy (Acts 16:25), by giving thanks for His blessings (Psalm 28:6-7) (Psalm 92:1-2, 4-5).
What does it mean to give thanks to God? One will often times give thanks to someone who has done something special for them. It shows appreciation to that one for acting in a positive way. In (Psalm 8:3-9) we give thanks to the Creator God, and the giver of life eternal (John 3:16). He, and he alone, is to be forever praised (Isaiah 42:5-8).
And as Christians, we’re called beyond simple thanks for the good things God has sent our way. We’re also to give thanks for what He has done for us, and for who He is (Psalm 118:21).
