How to honor God?

1 Samuel 2:30New International Version (NIV)
30 “Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.

Colossians 1:10
10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Context :
• Here we have the Lord speaking to Eli
• Eli was a High priest in the book of Samuel,
• That failed to control his sons
• From doing wrong against the Lord.
• Eli had 2 sons
• And they Did what ever they liked before the Lord
• And God came to Eli and said you must learn to control Your Sons
• But Eli did not do this
• And this displeased the Lord a lot
• To the point where God killed His two sons
• And God Choose Samuel
• To be the new Prophet for Gods Glory
• We all know the Story How God called Samuel
• At an early age calling him 3 times
• Saying Samuel, Samuel, Samuel
• And each time Samuel went to Eli
• Did you call me
• And then Eli Realized it was the Lord
• And Eli Said to Samuel the third time ask if it is you Lord
• Your Servant is listing
• And God called Samuel into the ministry

What I would like to talk about this morning is
“How to Honour the Lord”

I would like to share some things on how to honour the Lord

1. Many Christian Believe once a Person because a Christian honouring the Lord is automatic
2. What is Honouring the Lord mean ?
3. What are things that pleases the Lord
4. What are things that God Hates ?
5. Why should we honour the Lord ?
6. Why people don’t honour the Lord ?
7. What happens if you don’t honour the Lord ?
8. God is not stupid God knows who honours him
 
1. Many Christian Believe once a Person because a

Christian honouring the Lord is automatic

a. That’s not true
b. There are so many people called Christians today
c. That do not honour the Lord
d. And has Christian we need to please God
e. Just Like Jesus did
f. We need to look at Jesus life and do the same

2. What is Honouring the Lord mean ?

a. Its to respect God
b. Its to make God happy
c. Its to Obey God
d. It’s a choice
e. Its to put him first
f. To have a relationship with him
g. Its talking to him and having fellowship with him everyday
h. Its to have fear not to hurt God
i. There so many people out there that are hurting God
j. Its to know how to please God
k. And to know what God hates

3. What are things that pleases the Lord

There are 35 things that Please God

1 Obeying God
2a When you focus on God not your own
2. Faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6).
3 Worshiping the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve (Matt. 4:10).
4 Seeking first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
5 Obeying God rather than men (Acts 5:29).
6 Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God (Romans 12:1).
7 Going into all the world, and preaching the gospel (Mark 16:15).
8 Desiring spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 14:1).
9 Stand fast in the faith (1 Cor. 16:13).
10. Do not Grieve the Holy Spirit of God (Ephesians 4:30).
11 Its to Be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).
12 Study to show thyself approved unto God …
13 Rightly dividing the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).
14 Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16).
15 Rejoice in the Lord always (Phil. 4:4).

29 make sure you living according to the doctrines of the bible (1 Timothy 4:16).

32 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world (1 John 2:15).
33 Looking for that blessed hope, that one day Jesus will return (Titus 2:13).

6. The hire of a whore (Deuteronomy 23:18)
7. Dishonest scales (Deuteronomy 25:13-16)
8. Workers of iniquity (Psalm 5:5)
9. The wicked (Psalm 11:5)
10. Those who love violence (Psalm 11:5)
11. A lying tongue (Proverbs 6:17)
12. Hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17)
13. A heart that devises wicked imaginations (Proverbs 6:18)
14. Feet that are swift in running to mischief (Proverbs 6:18)
15. A false witness who speaks lies (Proverbs 6:19)
16. Anyone who sows discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:19)
17. The ways of the wicked (Proverbs 15:9)
18. The thoughts of the wicked (Proverbs 15:26)

20. Those who justify the wicked (Proverbs 17:15)
21. Those who condemn the just (Proverbs 17:15)

24. Those who don’t obey

5. Why should we honour the Lord ?

1. 1 Corinthians 6:20 For you were bought with a price.
2. 1 Samuel 2:30 God will honour you
3. 1 Corinthians 3:16 Because God lives in us, we are his temple
4. Isaiah 43:7 Because God created us,
5. We have been created for his glory
6. Because He Loves us John 3:16
7. It shows that we love the Lord
8. We will be satisfied in the Lord
9. We will have the Lords Protection
10. We will receive a reward from God
11. God will become your friend
12. You don’t want God to be your enemy
13. God controls everything

6. Why people don’t honour the Lord ?

A) They forget too (They get court up with this life they forget)
B) Because people think God is ferry tail and don’t honour him
C) Because they have been hurt by others
D) Many think doing evil will bring them advantages
E) Many think that can do anything want and think they can be forgiven
F) Not so look at the text

‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained. 

7.What happens if you don’t honour the Lord ?

30 “Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.

a. God will tell you
b. God will reject you
c. God will not bless you
d. Will he take you away from the position he has given you
e. You become sick
f. You will not prosper
g. He will tell everyone you are not doing the wrong thing
h. He will expose your sin

8. God is not stupid God knows who honours him

Lets look at the text “For I will honor those who honor me, but those who despise me will be cursed!”

a. Gods knows who honours him
b. God knows who does not honour him
c. If God would come down today and revealed who homours him
d. Would you stand or would you fail the test ?
e. You know will know
f. We may hide today
g. But we cant hide on judgment day

Conclusion :

What am I saying this morning
1) We must honour the Lord, it’s a requirement for every Christian
2) To hounor the Lord we must Know what he likes and dislikes
3) If you don’t honour the Lord God knows he is not stupid
4) If you don’t honour the Lord He will tell you
5) Why Honour the Lord ? Its for our Advantage
6) A Great honour is waiting if you honour him
7) A Great reward is waiting if Honour him
8) And the Lord will Honour you and lift you up.
