When you get victory over all your sin
When your new life in Christ is to begin
Don't look back
When the comforting Holy Spirit enters in
When the Spirit gives you peace within
Don't look back
When Satan tries to halt your new plan
When he wants you to join his evil clan
Don't look back
When you feel discouraged over time
When the mountains are hard to climb
Don't look back
When your valleys are lonely and dark
When your lonely trail is hard to mark
Don't look back
When your friends don't see your way
When your friends all continue to stray
Don't look back
When the Savior makes plans to return
When to meet Him you often do yearn
Don't look back
More than half a century ago, martyr Dietrich Boenhoffer (1906-1945) wrote a brilliant but uncomfortable book, The Cost of Discipleship (1948). Boenhoeffer was one of the few German clergymen to stand up against Hitler's godless rise to power -- and he paid for it with his life. But his book's title reminds us of the cost of following Jesus closely. (Luke 9:57-62)
In other words, Christians should never look back to the old life of sin. That's all Satan wants, is for you to get just a false taste of the pleasures of his evil sinful life.
Remember, Christ is not asking to follow us, but we are to follow Him, through our difficulties, hardships, toil, danger or whatever may come our way. If we do this, He will always be there by our side. (Hebrews 13:5) (Matt 28:10) (Romans 8:31-39)
