by Colan L. Hiatt
(Mt. Airy, NC)
The merchant seemed to prosper
Although his ethics were not good
Merchandise was misrepresented
He often charged more than he should
Her beauty seemed to usher her
Into the prime environment
Although others were more qualified
It caused many to lament
His wardrobe was the finest
He would flaunt in every crowd
To be the center of attention
Of this position, he was proud
The offenders sentence was so small
As awarded by the court
Although evidence was manifest
It seemed the victim had little support
Sometimes these things puzzle me
Then I find solace in God's Word
With the dawning of tomorrow
All atrocities will be deferred
Beyond the veil, I'll understand
And no longer question why
In Heaven, it will be utopia
Former things, no longer apply
