(Mt. Airy, NC)
If from childhood onward, I have gained
The best of grades and intellect
If popularity and praise, I have attained
At the end of the way - I'll leave it all
If youthful vigor, has enabled me
To gain recognition and respect
And from poverty, I may be free
At the end of the way - I'll leave it all
If the cooperate world, has been kind
And success, has smiled on me
If my peers view me, as refined
At the end of the way - I'll leave it all
If retirement grants me fame and wealth
To be independent and carefree
And I should bask in the best of health
At the end of the way - I'll leave it all
If I should be given senior years
To reflect on memories of the past
And inventory life's souvenirs
At the end of the way - I'll leave it all
If I neglect my soul, for worldly gain
According to Luke 12: 16 - 21
My life will have, been lived in vain
At the end of the way - I'll leave it all
What I have committed, to God's hand
And entrusted to Him, - my all !
This - alone - is what will stand
At the end of the way - I'll keep it all
